About Us

Hello!

I'm so pleased you've found your way to AcuteAudio, my little corner of the internet where I try to help people find the good, the better, and the best in audio electronics for your home, on the go, car or boat, remote work, and pro live and studio applications.

owner of acuteaudio, ian

My name is Ian, and I've been an audio nerd my whole life. From my first Walkman to the Aiwa bookshelf 5-CD changer I got in high school (cranking Nirvana, Beethoven, or Orbital and lots in between), I've always been enchanted by the technology that delivers music to our ears and how deeply enriching and immersive it can be. I was the guy in a Saturn Wagon with a 2x10 sealed Orion woofer in the back, and sharing that private, mobile listening space with my friends and loved ones felt really special.

I've been a musician nearly all of my life: trombone in middle and high school (low brass!), then in college I found a dusty bass guitar under my girlfriend's bed and absolutely fell in love with it (less so the girlfriend, but oh well). Around the same time, I picked up a gig with a live sound engineer who mostly worked the classic-rock cover band scene around Tucson, and got lots of hands-on experience doing setups and dialing in a room so that it sounded great without deafening the crowd (or me). From there I added another side gig doing A/V installs in bars and restaurants, and even though it wasn't glamorous work, it was deeply satisfying.

With college behind me, I joined my first-ever band, playing the local Tucson scene whenever we could, recorded a couple of records, and even did a 10 day tour up and down the California coast. Since then I've played in more projects and bands than I can remember, but the point is: I've been in love with this stuff my entire life!

After a 15-year career in ecommerce, I've now decided to open up my own webstore to help people find the kind of joy I get from having music in the air! Welcome to AcuteAudio!
